*Halloween*
Thursday, October 19, 2006
Twenty-four 40 inch peacock tail feathers should arrive at my house sometime next week. Somehow I'm going to have to make them into a wearable tail... I'll work something out. And I have no idea what I'm going to do for the rest of my costume. The tail should be a pretty bold statement. If I don't fuck it up. I've never been good at crafty things. Maybe Edward will do it for me.

So Halloween is coming! I can't wait to eat some (a shit-ton of) candy. And I really hope we get some trick or treaters. I know there are some kids on my street, they'd better show up Tuesday.

You know what I hate? Skanky Halloween costumes. I just... cannot get on board with that. Especially the generic 40 dollar costumes I see every year. Oh, a busty cop, surprise surprise. Oooh, a sexy firewoman, never seen that before. Wow, a Playboy Bunny, how original! And I really hate what they've done to Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Wasn't she supposed to be a little kid or something?

It's been getting more and more difficult for me to update here. I'm just... completely unmotivated. I'm tired from school and stressed from being broke, bleh. I hate these boring, "here's a quick update on my life, it's not very interesting or well written but please, enjoy." Hate them.

UDATE - 10/20
My feathers came today! Surprisingly quick. Guess who's excited...

Me! I have no idea how I'm going to make these work.

Just use one feather and glue it to your head so you can be an apache for halloween.

I say you stop updating til you feel you have something to write about. That way, you avoid feeling empty when you post one of the 'Heres how my lifes going'type entry. Just stop writing til you feel inspired.

CUTE!
I LOVE those feathers! You make me want to buy some... But I also have no idea what I'd do with them.

Some where in the world...
There are 24 peacocks featherless :(

Wow, cool. Where did you buy the peacock feathers and how much did they cost? (I learned at this trivia night thing that the peacock mates w/ the peahen.)

That's awesome! And I'm totally with you on the skanky costumes - how boring.

Dammit, I didn't mean to recommend my own entry! I wanted to know who recommended it for me.

I'm still not used to that feature.

what to do...
If you haven't figured out how you can make your tail if you know how to use a needle and thread, at least on a basic level and can handle fabric glue, you can always try this out.

Buy some sturdy canvas fabric, get a large needle, good strong thread and some fabric die to match your costume. Cut the square piece of fabric into two V shaped pieces. Lay out your feathers so you get them how you want them to be shaped. Take them off and then start with the fabric glue; not all over, just on the feather shaft. Leave space to be able to sew around the feather shaft though, but not a whole lot of room. Once you're done putting them down then put the glue on the front side of the feather shaft. Lay down your other piece of fabric. Then start sewing. To sew the piece just start to do a basic weave around the feathers making your weave as tight as possible. Trim off the excess fabric and then sew up the sides turning in the fabric for a cleaner look or leaving it as is. :) There you have a tail that should be sturdy enough for most any activity.

I hope this helps you out. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. :/
